RULES
Have you ever sat down to watch an episode of your favourite show with a promising title, only to feel let down by the writers? Yes? Well, now it's your turn to re-write the episode the way you want it.
The basic premise of the challenge is that you may pick a fandom (or up to three fandoms if you're undecided, or want to write several stories), and I will then provide you with an episode title (for TV fandoms), chapter title (for book fandoms), DVD chapter title (for film fandoms) etc. You can then run wild write a story, make art (sketch, painting, collage, wallpaper or manipulation), write/perform a song, make a soundtrack (cover art and track listing, but no illegally uploaded tracks) or make a video in your chosen fandom, based on that episode title. It doesn't have to bear any resemblance to the original beyond sharing the same title, but can simply be inspired by the title.
For example, if you chose to write a Smallville story, I might assign you the title 'Red' and you could write a story about Martha painting the town red in her college years, or a creepy tale explaining Lionel's penchant for red heads, or you could twist the actual episode premise.
Rare fandoms are particularly welcome, but I might need you to point me in the direction of more information about them if they're extremely rare. Crossovers are fine too, but obviously you'll only get one title!
If I get a lot of sign-ups in young fandoms like Lost or Veronica Mars, where there are a very limited number of episode titles, I may have to use future episode titles please let me know when you're signing up if you prefer not to be given unaired episode titles.
I'm not going to put strict limits on size of entries I'd prefer to see stories above 1000 words (but if you can write a clever alternate episode in 100 words, go for it). When it comes to art, then anything larger than an icon is fine.
All works should be stand-alone pieces - if it is part of a series that you are already working on, please make sure that it makes sense as a solo work.
Signing up starts now please click on the sign-up link in the side bar to take part. That links to my journal post - if you don't have a live journal, then anonymous comments are fine, but please leave your name and email address in that case. I'll be accepting sign-ups until the Thursday before the challenge closes, for those who like to decide these things at the last minute!
The challenge deadline is Saturday 19th February 2005. Work may be posted as soon as you've finished it leave me a link on this post, or email the link to me. All stories/art/videos will be linked to from this archive unless you request otherwise. If you don't have a site/LJ/suitable archive to post stories or art on, then I'll be happy to host them for you just let me know in advance. Videos however will need to be hosted on your own site.
When you've finished and posted your work, please send me the following details:
